“I have some hard practices this week. I know the cheerleaders have to travel together for away games and we’ll get back late and all but would you like to do something on Sunday?” Matt’s words flew out of his mouth so quickly she barely had a chance to comprehend what he said. When it registered, Simone nodded and slipped away before she could say something ridiculous or succumb to her physical desires. Clearly Matt didn’t want to join her this evening. Perhaps it was for the best. Their time would come, she hoped. Simone glanced over her shoulder once to see him still standing there, staring after her with the same grin on his face.
Simone was still smiling when she opened the door to her dorm room. Her smile fell into a look of shock as she practically ran over her roommate. Josephine looked startled as well as she grabbed a large, heavy, knee length coat to cover up. But not before Simone glimpsed the neon pink spandex mini-dress, black fishnet tights, and knee high black combat boots or the wrist to shoulder tattoos on Josephine’s arms. Without a word, Simone’s mysterious roommate pushed by her and fled down the hall, her now fuchsia hair trailing behind. Simone stood gaping, half in the room, half out of it.
